Olympia is a vibrant community filled with incredibly diverse people. Between the hard-working efforts of elected officials and their staff at the seat of state government, the artistic heart beating at the center of the downtown area, and the tranquility of the natural landscape, there are endless things to talk about in our area. It’s through this lens that Thurston Talk and Olympic Sotheby’s International Realty are proud to announce their new partnership on the Thurston Talk Podcast.

In March 2011, ThurstonTalk.com officially launched, and it quickly became a beloved hub for Thurston County residents. Embracing an innovative approach, the platform relied on storytelling as its foundation. The focus was not solely on hard-hitting news but also on the stories of people, businesses, nonprofits, events, and culture that shaped the community's identity.

Thurston Talk's unique approach to journalism relied on community engagement. The platform encouraged residents to submit their stories, photos, and videos, fostering a sense of ownership and pride among its readers. This community-driven model not only provided a fresh perspective on local news but also gave residents an opportunity to tell their own tales, thereby reinforcing the sense of togetherness that defined Thurston County.

As the platform gained traction, it became a powerful catalyst for positive change and community building. Thurston Talk's stories of local heroes, charitable initiatives, and innovative businesses sparked a ripple effect, inspiring others to make a difference. From highlighting environmental conservation efforts to promoting cultural events, Thurston Talk helped forge meaningful connections between the county's residents and organizations.

Today, Thurston Talk stands as a unique center for news in Olympia and beyond. The organization has used innovative platforms to deliver information to those hungry for updates on their community, which makes podcasting a natural fit.

“I’ve had the opportunity through this experience to sit at the table with a lot of leaders having a real impact,” Dan says. “And to give them the opportunity to share their visions, missions, what they’re up to, is going to be extremely valuable to this community.”

The show will be brought to listeners by Olympic Sotheby's International Realty, formerly known as the Greene Realty Group, which has a long history in Thurston County, starting from its founding as a local, independent real estate firm in 2005.
