Holiday Gift Ideas as Unique as the Northwest

#GRGCommunity

The holidays are steadily approaching and the annual question arises again… What to get the ones you love the most? The downtown Olympia area offers an amazing array of locally owned shops and stores, so getting gifts from down there is always a safe bet, you just have to do a little bit of planning beforehand if you want to be successful. Here are a few gift ideas that I have cultivated that I think represent the area well.

To Make:

One of my favorite options, no matter how old you are, moms always love anything handmade, and The Painted Plate is a perfect place for exactly that. In just an hour, you can have a hand painted vase, serving dish or her new favorite mug. Just remember that after painting, the pottery has to be fired so this option is not for those last minute gift givers out there. Another great option is an amazing glass blowing experience from Central Glass Works where you can take a glass blowing class, and leave with something unique for your special someone.

The Olympia Farmer's Market:

Maybe the handmade route is the right one, but not your hands? No problem! The Olympia Farmers Market is populated with plenty of talented people that will gladly sell you something they have been working on with love. The Farmer’s Market offers photography, paintings, metal work, jewelry, glass, ceramics and candles all under one roof and locally sourced!

To Eat:

For the chef in the family there are also plenty of gifts that keep on giving. Olympia Olive Oil has a magnificent selection of high quality oils and vinegars. The Mouse Trap also has plenty of artisan cheeses and toppings, which often create the most delicious tasting platters around the holidays. Also, Compass Rose is consistently stocked with life changing cook books for those willing to pick up a new skill in the new in the new year.

To Drink:

Finally, if you need that local six pack or bottle to bring to your holiday work party, downtown Oly has you covered. Both Fish Tale Ale and Well 80 keep the taps flowing and offer some great, locally made beers. Shoebox Spirits in the 222 market also has some amazing small batch spirits that make great gifts.

Hopefully if you were a little stumped on present ideas, this got the juices flowing a bit more. Overall, downtown Olympia is a great opportunity to get some truly special gifts for those people that you care about the most. Happy holidays from us here at Greene Realty Group!
