#GRGcommunity | Leveraging Community
How can we best serve the community that we live in? What’s my role in community? What is community’s role in my life?
These are the questions that a lot of us ask ourselves, especially if we’ve lived in the same community for an extended period of time. It’s easy to move into a community and start reaping the benefits it has to offer, and after all that is what community is for. Communities exist for all of us, but that also requires involvement.
“What’s good for you is what’s good for me, and what’s good for me is what’s good for you.”
So how can we, as the community, not only benefit from it, but also give back to it?
A good start is to LEVERAGE ORGANIZATIONS THAT SEEK SOCIAL CHANGE. Whether it’s non-profits serving the community in health, job creation, or environmental conservation, leveraging organization that are already doing good within the community is a great way to start serving. What does leverage mean in this context? It looks different for everybody, but at its core, it’s taking the responsibility and privilege that one might have wherever they are in the community and using it to help. Maybe that means aiding financially? Maybe that means volunteering time? Maybe that simply means to spread the word!
Community is only as strong as those who are a part of it, so helping protect, aid, and foster what’s IN the community will help protect, aid, and foster THE community.
Thurston County is a large and diverse community covering lots of cities and small towns. This can be intimidating to someone that wants to get involved. To help, Greene Realty Group is starting an initiative to highlight many of the incredible organizations that the rest of the community can leverage! One by one we can help build this community up!
“What’s good for you is what’s good for me, and what’s good for me is what’s good for you!”
Be on the lookout for some new content these next few months highlighting specific organizations that do incredible work around Thurston County, and if you’re a part of a group or organization that does incredible work too, please contact us through our Community Manager.
